Have you seen a happy layoff?

Well, I haven’t – having executed at least five layoffs in the past 9 years.

Undeniable that some companies with cash position using the covid-19 opportunity to trim staff and avoid scrutiny. We wrote about Chinese companies doing that long time ago.

That said, what Allen Zhu mentioned actually made sense. Many of the cuts are necessarily anyway – delaying those are harmful for the people at the receiving end too.

Most layoffs are not easy for anyone. The decision makers might look perfectly fine, but many actually get emotional baggage and insomnia that they can’t tell anyone about.

Of course, there are unhappy marriages – if you read the TechinAsia report on Zilingo.

Either way, if you are laid off, stop bitching about how it was handled, move on.

If you are competent, of course.
