Trump uses Chinese powerbank & microphone to talk to Musk

On August 13, Former US President Donald Trump had a dialogue with Elon Musk, where we could clearly see that Musk was trying to nudge Trump on certain policy directions. This is an interesting initiative, especially when Donald Trump has a fair chance of returning to the White House next year.

You might want to listen to Musk explaining why he had endorsed Donald Trump in a recent episode of the Lex Fridman Podcast. However, this is not what we are discussing here today.

What has taken the Chinese cross border ecosystem by storm was the Chinese-branded equipment Trump used:

  1. Anker’s MagGo2.0 powerbank
  2. Boya’s Wireless Lavalier Microphone

We are not sure whether Former President Trump was aware of the brands and provenance of these products. Nonetheless, it is definitely a testament to the reach and competitiveness of Chinese consumer electronics products. (We covered some of these briefly in an earlier report on cross border ecommerce)
