Southeast Asia’s food delivery market continued its rebound in 2025, with platform GMV growing 18% year-on-year to reach US$22.7 billion, up from 13% growth in 2024. This marks the second consecutive year of double-digit growth, following several years of post-pandemic recalibration.

Today, we are happy to release the 6th edition of our annual Food Delivery Platforms in Southeast Asia report. This report offers insights into the latest numbers, market trends, and strategies shaping the region’s food delivery landscape.

These are some of the interesting topline dynamics from the report:

  1. SEA food delivery is back in fast-growth mode
    All six markets recorded double-digit growth, with Thailand emerging as the fastest-growing market (~22% YoY).
  2. Grab further strengthened its regional leadership, growing its market share to around 55%. Meanwhile, ShopeeFood overtook Foodpanda in GMV terms;
  3. Growth is coming from more people, not bigger baskets. GMV growth is now driven by user expansion and higher order frequency, while AOVs are trending down slightly due to platforms’ affordability pushes.
  4. Affordability is the central battleground. Platforms converged on low-cost propositions to expand mass-market demand, intensifying competition but also meaningfully enlarging the overall market.
  5. Discovery is shifting from “search” to “feed + incentives”. Food discovery is becoming content-led, voucher-driven and algorithmically curated, both inside apps and via TikTok-style surfaces. That opens up a significant market for merchant and brand ads.
  6. Platforms shift from delivery to demand orchestrators. With dine-out, ads, data, and discovery control, platforms increasingly shape how merchants price, promote and compete. Merchants’ dependence on platforms increases.
  7. TikTok will not replace food delivery platforms anytime soon. The worry about an assault has diminished, with TikTok reaching a conclusion that ecommerce is a much better way to monetise its traffic instead.

The full report breaks down country-by-country dynamics, platform strategies, merchant implications, and what global players like Meituan are teaching Southeast Asia – with data and insights you won’t find anywhere else.
