In preparation for Momentum Works Immersion: Live Commerce (Hangzhou) from 28 to 30 May 2024, our team is currently in Hangzhou connecting with key players and setting the stage.

Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect from the immersion:

1. Visit 2 of the 3 top MCNs in China (Yowant and Befriends):
See Live Commerce operations in action, and learn about the different MCNs’ business strategies, operations, brand management, ROI assessment and their overseas ambitions (spoiler: includes acquiring a real shopping mall);

2. Visit HQ of live AI leader Tabcut:
See the whole process of AI implementation in action; see how AI and humans interact in the Live Commerce; dive into key trends on Douyin/TikTok and performance indicators that international brands have been looking at;

3. Understand where and how MCNs & live sellers source (and scale) innovative products that sell well on Live Commerce through sharing by Mr Y, who used to lead supply chain for Viya (Taobao’s live streaming queen with 80 million followers);

4. Gain exclusive insights into operational strengths, technological advancements, competitive strategies, ecosystem building and global expansion of top Chinese ecommerce platforms– Alibaba, Pinduoduo, Douyin – through sharings and dialogue sessions by people who led the platforms’ live operations

… and more. If you would like to 1) understand how live commerce in China is evolving, 2) learn about operational practices, and 3) build business relations with leading players, do not miss out!

You can register your interest here.

P.S Thank you to all the registered participants who have shared more than 30 questions, some of them going very deep in supply chain and MCN operations.

The two years running Rocket Internet companies has given him a lifetime experience on supersonic implementation, and good camaraderie with entrepreneurs across the developing world. He holds a MBA from INSEAD (GMAT 770) and a degree in Computer Engineering from Nanyang Technological University. Unfortunately he never wrote a single line of code professionally - but in his first job he was in media, travelling extensively across Asia & Europe, speaking with Ministers & (occasionally) Prime Ministers. Apart from English and his native Mandarin, he is also fluent in French and conversational in Cantonese & Spanish. He tried to learn Latin (for three years) and Sanskrit (for six months) as well. In his (scarce) free time, he reads, travels, hikes and dives. Pyongyang, Tehran & Chisinau are among the interesting cities he has been to.
